How to Get Colombia Mercosur Visa

25-off-Translations

The Colombia Mercosur visa is intended for citizens of countries who are either permanent or associate members of Mercosur economic bloc. The economic bloc has 4 permanent members, Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Venezuela had been one of the permanent members but the country’s membership has been currently suspended. The associate members of Mercosur bloc are Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Chile, and Bolivia.

The citizens of countries which are members of Mercosur economic bloc can get a Migrant visa of M-3 category. This visa is valid for up to 2 years for member countries. After 2 years visa holders may apply for full residency. The only major requirement for obtaining this visa is a legalized criminal history report.

What makes this visa interesting to most of our non-Spanish speaking readers is that citizens which are from the Mercosur member countries may bring their spouses and family members to Colombia with beneficiary visas. So, if your spouse is a citizen of Peru, then he or she can apply for Mercosur visa. Once he or she has obtained M-3 visa, then he or she can apply for beneficiary visa for his or her North American or European spouse and children.

The Colombia Mercosur visa allows multiple re-entry into Colombia. Please note that if a visa holder stays out of Colombia for six consecutive months, then the visa becomes invalid.

Under the new visa resolution 5477, all Migrant visas require you to be in Colombia 180 days or more to keep your visa. If you are out of Colombia more than 180 days your visa will no longer be valid, and Migracion Colombia officials may cancel your visa on entry.
If you are allowed entry in to Colombia with just a stamp then the official will most likely allow you to enter as a tourist after cancelling your visa.

New requirements for the Mercosur  visa are a criminal record report, and insurance which covers repatriation.

Testimonials from a current and former clients who got a Colombian visas successfully.

Worked with James and Cristina on buying first property in Colombia. They were very knowledgable in Colombia law and banking. Went the extra mile to guide us thru the process of transferring foreign funds, reviewing/advising purchase documents, and walking us thru the maze of legalities. Invaluable, and in dual languages! Thanks to them the process was completed in less than one month!

Jerry Brewer

I had James take care of the renewing of my US passport and all went very well I did not have to go to Bogota and all was completed with a new passport in a little over 2 weeks !! Highly reccomend.
